Swim Spray

Swimming is my all time favorite sport and it I have introduced my little ones to it as young as 6 months old! We have been taking Mommy/Daddy & me swim classes and the boys have recently graduated to solo classes where mommy & daddy are now spectators. We swim all year round and one of the most annoying issues is the lingering chlorine smell on our bodies & hair. It seems that no matter how many times we wash, the strong smell of chlorine is usually present for hours after we exit the pool. Swim Spray is a spray that neutralizes the dreaded chlorine smell, invented by swimmers for swimmers. After getting out of the pool, we rinse off then spray Swim Spray on our bodies & hair then take our regular post swimming shower. Car Seat Safety Tips From Julie Vallese, Safety 1st Consumer Safety Expert.
Importance of Rear Facing
In March of 2011 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) updated their car seat recommendations advising that children should remain rear facing until the age of two, or until they reach the maximum height and weight requirements allowed by their car seat. According to a study in the Journal of Injury Prevention children under the age of two are 75 percent less likely to die or be severely injured in the event of a car crash if they are rear facing. When a child is rear facing their head,
neck and spine are better supported and in the event of an accident, crash forces are distributed over the child’s entire body.
Installation
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, 75% of car seats are installed incorrectly. Every car and car seat has different requirements for the
safest installation so before you get started it is important to read both the car seat and car manual.
Typically the center rear seat is the safest place for a car seat, and never install a car seat in the front seat. If your car does not have a latch connector for the middle
seat, you can use the middle seat belt to properly secure the base. When installing, make sure the base of the car seat moves no more than an inch from side to side. An easy way to test this is to hold at the belt path.
New parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend a car seat check before the baby is born. However, don’t just rely on the experts. You’re likely going to be
taking the car seat out and installing it somewhere else at some point, so make sure you’re comfortable with the process too.
Car Seat Expiration

The reason for an expiration date is because plastic can warp and materials can fray, which can make car seats less safe to use. Car seat technology and state and federal car seat regulations change. Uncommon Case
I am excited to work with the Mom Bloggers Club on the Get Uncommon Mother's Day campaign to create a one of a kind, custom made iPad case featuring my son's artwork. "Wow, I haven't seen one of those in forever", is the reaction I get when people get a look at our Greenie Joovy Spoon walker. In my search for functional, practical, safe, durable, cute baby products, I discovered Joovy earlier this year. Since then, I have been pleasantly surprised and content with all of the products I have tried, thus far. The Joovy Spoon walker is the perfect accessory for my mobile 8 month old son. We already have a high hair and a bouncer (made by other companies), but the Spoon combines the two into one amazing product. My baby likes to eat in his high hair but is constantly twisting and turning to get involved in other things. When he is in his rocker, he is able to be at eye level with his brother but is not able to eat comfortably or be mobile. The Spoon allows him to eat, play, move or engage in all three at once! The removable super sized tray allows him to snack easily as well as display and engage in playing with his favorite toys. He likes that e is able to scoot around the room independentlyb(usually backwards) even chase his older brother. I love that the walker is safe, durable and easy to use and clean, plus it folds almost flat to store in our cozy NYC apartment. The Joovy Spoon is a definite must have baby product!

LeapFrog Touch Magic Rock'n Learn
LeapFrog is one of my all-time favorite brands for educational toys. My first experience with Leapfrog was about 3 years ago when my son received a My Pal Scout toy; I was instantly infatuated with the toy and amazed at how easy it was to personalize. By the time my son was a year old, he was able to spell his name because of his pal Scout. Since our introduction 3 years ago, I have purchased numerous LeapFrog products for my household and as gifts. I was extremely delighted when I was notified that I was chosen to host a LeapFrog party to sample and review new Touch Magic products! I invited toddlers and preschoolers over to check out the toys and give their honest opinions, since they are the experts. The products I received were the Touch Magic Learning Bus and 2 Touch Magic Rockin’Guitars. I was able to gather the little ones in a circle and we went through the alphabet using the Touch Magic Learning Bus as our guide. The children loved it and enjoyed pressing the letters to hear the sounds as well as playing impromptu tunes on its built in keyboard. Then it was time to rock! I opened up the guitars and the crowd went wild! The instruments were an instant hit! They began singing along with the well-known songs such as: "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "If You are Happy and You Know It", as well as composing a few of their own while strumming the magic touch. This new line is truly magic and I can't wait to see what else leapfrog has lined up for us!

Stork and Cradle helped me!
Becoming a new mother for the second time has definitely had its challenges. I had my second som in November 2011 via a sceduled C-section. I was not sure what to expect as my older son was born via an emergency C-section two years prior. I had major anxiety and anticipation in regards to the operation but I figured once it was over I would be more comfortable because I was a "veteran" mother. I was wrong!
My newborn had difficulty latching in the hospital; I sought the assistance and advice of the nurses and lactation consultants on duty. After two days in the hospital, I was told that my baby boy had lost weight and and should be given formula because he probably wasn't latching correctly. I allowed him to receive the formula but requested a hospital grade pump to try to collect milk for him. I spent my last day in the hospital hand expressing and pumping.
I beleved that once I was home and more comfortable nursing would be just as easy as it was with my first son. The baby still refused to latch and I had to continue giving him formula in addition to the minute amounts of milk I was able to collect using the single hand pumpfom the hospital. After three days of hand pumping, I decided to purchase a double electric pump. I continued to attempt to nurse the baby but he blatantly refused. I sought additional assistance by attending a weekly Breastfeeding support group as well as consulting with two lactation consultants. Nothing worked. I fimnally accepted that I would have to pump exclusively. It was extremely hard to stick to a pumping schedule with a newborn and a very active 2 year old and eventually my milk supply began to decrease.
In May at the Mommybites Summit, I met Tamara Hawkins, a nurse with a private lactation consultation practice. She is the President of Stork and Cradle, Inc and their mission is to empower Mother's to have a safe and rewarding birth experience. I briefly explained my situation and she offerd me advice and suggestions on how to rebuld my supply. She suggested I use More Milk Plus capsules by MotherLove and shatavari capsules. She also informed me about the website lowmilksupply.org to be used as an additional resource.
After using the products for three weeks, I noticed an increase in my milk supply and although I am still exclusively pumping (my son is now 6 months old), Tamara gave me some invaluable tools to empower me and keep me focused on my ultimate goal.

Holiday 2012 with The Children's Place

The Children's Place has always been one of my go-to children's clothing stores even before I had children. I remember shopping for my own jeans as a tween and loving the variety and fashionable pieces. Every season, The Children's Place seems to out do themselves with each new collection and their 2012 holiday collection doesn't dissapoint. I was excited that I had the opportunity to attend The Children's Place Holiday Soiree earlier this month hosted by Momtrends. There were a variety of collections for infants thru tweens and the live models were super cute, trendy and friendly. There were party dresses, plaid party shirts, leopard print pieces, fur, glitter and lots of accessories! I fell in love with the glitter critter and critter cool hats and the picture perfect pieces and longed for a girl to "glam up" in the glitter boots. I have already picked out pieces for my boys to wear in their 2012 holiday pictures/cards this year...thanks again Children's Place!

Going “Baba” over baby slings!

I was introduced to the Joovy brand when I attended the Big City Moms Biggest Baby Shower earlier this month and I became quite intrigued by their array of products. The following week at the New York Baby Show I met a Daniel -dubbed the ‘Sling King’ ( @theSlingKing) and theBabaSling! The Sling King offered to put our 40 pound two year old into the sling (which he did effortlessly) and I was amazed at how comfortable they both looked!
Naturally I was next for the ‘master class’. He showed me how to adjust theBabaSling to my comfort level and the correct position to keep 5 month old 'A' safe and secure. To my surprise, TheBabaSling is nothing like a traditional sling that quickly becomes uncomfortable once your little one surpasses 15 pounds or so. It has an incredible amount of padding at the shoulder, a large safety buckle, and a safety buckle strap for extra security.
What can I say! I just love theBabaSling; it has made my day a lot easier!

I decided to use clickandimprove to paint a sheetrock wall partition my husband put up over a year ago that he never got around to painting. Making the appointment was easier than I expected and within minutes, a painter was scheduled to come over a few days later. On the day of the appointemnt the painter arrived and was very friendly and professional. He reviewed what I wanted done and I explianed that I wanted the wall partition in my toddler's bedroom painted with chalkboard paint. He got right to work and before I knew it, he was finished. He gave me instructions to let it dry compltely for at least a day and then it would be ready to use. The follow up by Anthony and the representative was also amazing. They emailed and called to assure that I was pleased and if I had any questions or concerns. "T" loves his new chalkboard wall and I am looking forward to checking off another thing from my to-do list with clickandimprove.com in the near future!

I was
introducedto the Happy Baby Food brand about two years ago when my first son started eating solids. He loved the organic yogurt snacks and the organic puffs. Now that he is a sometimes picky eating toddler, it is harder to find delicious, nutritious snack options. We decided to try the Happy Tot Pouches (sweet potato, apple, carrots & cinnamon) and Happy Munchies (cheddar cheese with carrot) products and he absolutely loved them! He loved them so much, he wanted to take some to his preschool coop group to share with his friends. All the children enjoyed them and 7 out of 8 of them asked for seconds! Build-A-Bear Workshop is 15 years old! This innovative company has helped build 100 million furry best friends while creating everlasting memories of the experience. I had the pleasure of taking my nephew to Build-A-Bear after his kindergarten graduation. He had a blast choosing his friend, stuffing it, shopping for accessories and finally naming him "Graddy"! Even though we did this 3 years ago, he still cherishes "Graddy" and loves to tell the story of how he made him. -SD

This show was an interactive sensational experience for children of all ages. The performance was truly entertaining from the second it started till the Amazing Max drove offstage in his go-cart. I had the pleasure of attending the show a few days ago with my husband, T (my two year old son) and A (my 3 month old son). My husband was a bit skeptical if the show would keep him conscious...he has fallen asleep in the middle of other live children's shows. A few minutes into the electrifying performance, my husband was laughing harder than most of the children there; Max was hysterically funny and engaging. Audience participation, both physically and verbally was an absolute must. The performance contained an assortment of card tricks, disappearing objects, juggling, a mind reading piggy and lots lots more! You can catch the Amazing Max at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center (MMAC) in New York City. This experience is a must for families of all ages!
