Premama Complete Powdered Prenatal Vitamin
*Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post. I received complimentary product for review purposes.
Prenatal pills can be a pain to take because they are usually oversized and a pain to swallow. During my first pregnancy, I suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum and was barely able to keep anything down, so taking my daily oversized prenatal vitamin was an almost impossible task. Learning about Premama after my second pregnancy was an eye opener, so I was prepared with my prenatal vitamin choice when I found out that I was expecting baby #3. I suffered from severe morning sickness with all pregnancies but I was able to use Premama and mix it in whatever drink I was able to keep down that day. Premama Complete is a great option to replace the traditional giant prenatal pills for before, during and after pregnancy.

Rainbow Light Embrace 35+ Multivitamin
Rainbow Light celebrates their newest arrival, Embrace 35+ and I was on hand to learn all about it at The Culinary Loft in NYC. Rainbow Light's president, Linda Kahler, vice president, Michael Galef and formulators were all present to give us a proper introduction to their newest multivitamin made specifically for women age 35+ who are pregnant, trying to conceive or are nursing. I especially like that these vitamins are a vegetarian capsule form and can be opened and mixed in food or drink or even taken on an empty stomach, especially important for anyone who suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum and was unable to eat/drink much as I did.
Embrace provides optimal potencies of nutrients that are critical to baby’s healthy development, and 35+ mom’s unique nutritional needs, with vitamins, minerals, superfoods and botanicals that nourish and protect mom and baby, help relieve discomfort and energize mom naturally throughout the day.* Plant-source enzymes and live probiotics ease digestion, and non-constipating iron is gentle on the stomach.*Embrace Prenatal 35+™ has no gluten, wheat, milk/dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, fish or shellfish. It is easy to swallow, vegetarian, sugar-free, 100% natural and contains no artificial additives.
Freshmade NYC provided delicious tapas style lunch based on a woman's diverse nutritional needs through each trimester of pregnancy and while nursing, The food was healthy, nutrient packed and delicious plus they were each paired with a mocktail (my favorite was the red pepper one). Authors of Your Pregnancy After 35, Glade B. Curtis, MD., OB/GYN and Judith Schuler, M.S. were also present to discuss their book and highlight some of the important factors that women over the age of 35 face when pregnant and trying to conceive.

#drinkpremama
I gathered a few friends to come over to my Premama Mommy Party so I could introduce them to this amazing new product! Premama is a doctor-recommended prenatal vitamin drink mix. It is complete with key prenatal vitamins and minerals that help reduce the risk of some birth defects by 70% and promote healthy fetal development. I set up some milk and a variety of juices so we could sample premama as well as snacks: Driscolls strawberries & blueberries, Unreal candy, Pretzel Crisps and red velvet cookies. Everyone was excited to try the flavorless prenatal drink mix and we even played a blind taste test game and Prenatal trivia. Everyone was amazed at how easy it was to take the Premama prenatal vitamin drink mix plus it was flavorless and mostly tasted like whatever juices beverage we mixed it with. We discussed the difficulty that many of us experienced or are experiencing when it comes to being able to take the oversized prenatal pills that our doctors have perscribed. I shared my experience with suffering from moderate HG (hyperemesis gravidarum) with both my pregnancies where I was unable to drink or eat much but was still expected to take my prenatal vitamins daily. We tried a variety of ways for me to take the pills: halved, crushed, double and even chewable ones but with my relentless nausea and vomiting many of these tricks did not work. Premama would have been a great option for me when I was able to tolerate drinks and would have alleviated some of the stress regarding making sure my baby received prenatal nutrients. Even though we were all in various stages: preconception, pregnant, breastfeeding or not expecting: we still loved the idea of drinkable vitamins that can be taken on-the-go because it is suggested that all women ages 15-50 take prenatal vitamins everyday.

What is Kefir?I was introduced to Lifeway Kefir a few months ago and was eager to try it as I often see the products next to the yogurts in the supermarket. I searched the Internet for more information abot kefir and came up with this definition from Dictionary.com: kefir is a a tart-tasting drink originally of the Caucasus, made from cow's or sometimes goat's milk to which the bacteria Streptococcus and Lactobacillus have been added.
Lifeway's foundation product is Kefir - a creamy probiotic dairy beverage similar to but distinct from yogurt. Lifeway offers the largest selection of Kefir in the world. Based on whole milk, low-fat or non-fat pasteurized milk, Lifeway Kefir has a unique effervescent quality that stems from the exclusive blend of kefir grains. The blend of cultures contains seven to ten billion CFU’s of 10 strains of bacteria, plus ProBoost, our exclusive pair of clinically proven probiotics to balance your body’s ecosystem, support digestive health and immunity – that’s 12 live and active cultures per cup. Lifeway has a long list of products that include Kefir, Organic Kefir, Probugs, Biokefir , Frozen Kefir, Frozen probugs and Greek Style Fro Yo, Low-Carb Kefir, Cheese, Traditional Kefir & Lassi. Since my little ones enjoy yogurt, I decided to try the Lifeway ProBugs. The ProBugs boasts that it: supports immunity, has half the sugar of most juices & yogurts, is an excellent source of calcium, Vitamin D, protein & fiber and has a no-spill, no-mess spout. "T", my 3 year old chose the Orange Creamy Crawler flavored ProBugs 4 pack and he couldnt wait to get home and try them. Both boys (3 years old & 1 year old) enjoyed sipping on their Lifeway Kefir Probugs drinks and finished them off quickly. We cannot wait to try other flavors and some Frozen Kefir! Baby Brezza made it EZ!
I have been making my own baby food for a little over 2 years now and when I was introduced to the Baby Brezza 1-step baby food maker earlier this year, it was love at first sight. I was amazed at how simple it was to use and that it allowed me the option to "set it and forget it". I use my Baby Brezza every day to prepare delicious and nutritious meals for my 8 month old as well as my toddler. I love the freedom I have to create my own combination of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains and meats. My children's palates are blank canvasses and I want to introduce them to an array of healthy food from a young age. In my self-proclaimed role to share any and all products, tools and resources that can make any parents' life easier, I decided to host and "teach" a hands on Baby Brezza baby food making class where parents would have the opportunity to use the machine and recreate some of the delicious recipes submitted by real life moms in the Baby Brezza cookbook. My first class was held on Wednesday, July 18th at Namaste Yoga of Kensington in Brooklyn NY. The menu consisted of 2 recipes from the cookbook: Avocado, apple and pears & Hummus and tomato. The moms had a great time cooking, chatting, sharing tips and recipes all while getting familiar with Baby Brezza. After about 20 minutes the food was ready and it was time for the taste test. Both recipes received thumbs up and homemade baby food making has a few more converts. -SD |

GLAD Meal Kit Program
I was excited when I found out I was selected to participate in the Glad Meal Kit program, just in time for my busy week of social media events and conferences. The package came and it included 2 pieces of Glad freezer ware storage, tortillas, a can of diced chilis and a can of enchilada sauce. The only ingrdeients I had to purchase were a rotissiere chicken, an onion, salsa and shredded cheese. I set everything up and gave my husband the recipe and documented his progress. The recipe was very easy to follow: first he had to take the meat off the rotissiere chicken and saute it in a pan with onions, garlic and salsa. Next he warmed up the tortillas and formed the enchiladas. Lastly, he added the shredded cheese and baked them for about thirty minutes. He did pretty well and the food was delicious: he just complained that since I was there, able to take pictures, why couldn't I make the meal!

The milkscreen calculatorMy dwindling milk supply has been a problem that has plagued me for 6 months now. I was always attempting to figure out exactly how much milk I produce and means of increasing my production. The milkscreen calculator does just that! It is a home kit that tells you approximately how much milk you are producing in addition to providing tips and suggestions to increase supply. At first glance the test looked daunting; the instructions stated I needed a pump and a 3 hour block! I thought aloud, “where am I going to find 3 hours to complete this test with my toddler and infant around?" so I placed the test aside until I could find the time. A few days later I decided to do it. I woke up on Saturday morning, sat at the computer to register. I input my baby's birthday, birth weight, current weight (I weighed him at home), other birth information and entered the unique test code provided in the test instructions. I had to leave the computer for a while to get snacks for my toddler so I logged out; upon my return I was unable to log into the site via my version of IE (Internet Explorer). I immediately sent an email that was answered in an extremely timely manner and soon I was given options to try and was able to log in using Google Chrome. Next, I completed a short pre-test questionnaire (about 5-8 minutes to complete), created a test timeline of 3pm-6pm and began testing. The test stated “breastfeed baby” but in my case I pumped because my infant refuses to nurse. I was then scheduled to pump and measure the output at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm and enter the volume in ml. (using the beaker that was provided) into the online grid. After measuring the milk each time, I refrigerated it to feed my baby later in the day and washed the beaker and pumping supplies. After completing the three pumping sessions and entering the information, I reviewed it carefully to ensure accuracy. I generated the report and was presented with an in depth report. The information was broken up explaining my daily breastmilk production which is in the low range for a 32 week old baby and my baby’s weight which is in the high range (due to the formula I have been supplementing). The test results offered some possible explanations for my low milk production and suggestions to increase my milk supply. In addition to this information there was a section on “The Power of Breastfeeding” which listed benefits for both mother and child. Overall II have to admit the test was very simple and extremely informative plus the customer service was amazing. The milkscreen test is a must for breastfeeding mothers who are inneed concrete information about their milk supply and can be extremely useful when talking to their doctors and/or Lactation Consultants.

Apples and Kale...oh my!
I have been recently obsessed with making my own baby food since being ntroduced to the Baby Brezza one step baby food
maker a few months ago. The Baby Brezza steams and blends all in the same container, so I can set it and forget it. I have been making both traditional and non traditional baby food combinations as well as trying out many of the recipes in the Baby Brezza Cookbook. After some trials, I came across a mixture that I have to share that is both nutritious and delicious for baby: kale and apples! Here is the simple recipe:
Ingredients:
-1 bunch of kale (Leafy greens are high in calcium and are very nutritious for babies. Kale has a mildly sweet flavor)
-2 red delicious apples
Method:
1. Wash the leaves of kale, remove the stems and cut into very thin strips
2. Wash and peel the apples, then cut into small chunks.
3. Set Baby Brezza baby food maker to "Steam & Blend" for 20 minutes. (make sure there is enough water in the resevoir)
4. Let cool, store and serve!

Remember, always consult with your pediatrician regarding the introduction of solid foods to your baby and specifically discuss any foods that may pose allergy risks for your baby.
