Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes with T-Tapp Workout (review)
Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post. i was given a complimentary book for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
Working out is the absolutely last thing on my to-do list. I truly despise traditional workouts and now with three children at home with me all the time, I can not imagine where I could find quality time to "get in shape".
I was approached to review the book Fit and Fabulous in 15 minutes (Lose 2 sizes in 4 weeks with the T-Tapp Workout) and was immediately intrigued by the title. I thought, "I can find 15 minutes a day to work out by getting up a few minutes before my little ones woke up." So, with this realistic goal set, I began reading the book and highlighting everything that stood out for me.
Teresa Tapp's workout regimen is really based on science and focused on engaging all the muscles instead of simply highlighting a target area. The first step is knowing your real body type because you will know exactly what to focus on when doing the T-Tapp exercises. The book is filled with visual and verbal descriptions of each exercise as well as the science behind why the exercises work. The testimonials are heartfelt, honest and illustrate that the T-Tapp workout is successful in people of all ages. The best part of T-Tapp is that you can try it out before you commit to purchasing the book here. Now, that I have measured myself and have committed to following the T-Tapp workout for a whole 4 weeks, i am excited to see how effective it will be!

Is This All There Is (book review)
*Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post. I received a complimentary book for review purposes.
Is This All There Is by Patricia Mann is a great read especially for a modern wife and mother. The reader is instantly transported into Beth's day to day life as a wife, mother and part time professor. Beth's situation is something that every woman can relate to in some way: she feels neglected by her husband, stuck in a rut, wondering what her life would/could be like. Beth is reintroduced to a former student in a nightclub environment and her seemingly predictable life takes a sharp turn into the unexpected and unknown. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it because I was eager to find out what would happen next. Mann did an amazing job of capturing the mundane life of a housewife and mother who secretly longs for more.

Between Friends (book review)

A guest post by the author: Amanda Cowen:
How to Find a Critique Buddy I cannot emphasize enough the importance of finding a good critiquing buddy or system. These "critique buddies" should be people whose opinions you value, or people who you know will give you constructive feedback, and people who you know will be prepared to read and reread things that you are working on. So now the question is, how do you find one? 1. Friends and Family members - These people are supportive of you and of your work. Find the ones that will tell you like it is yet they will keep their comments and opinions encouraging. Make sure these friends and family have the same great taste in books and that they like to read the genre you write. Friends and family will have your back no matter what and can be great at encouraging you and your story. 2. Other writers (from a writers group) - Online writing groups can be a great way to make connections in the writing and publishing world and to get the critiques that will improve your skills as a writer. These "critiques" can provide insight and pose great questions to rethink and justify your story and where it is headed. I have even included a list of three great online writing groups that I am a part of: * <http://www.scribophile.com> http://www.scribophile.com *<http://www.reviewfuse.com> http://www.reviewfuse.com *<http://www.critiquecircle.com> http://www.critiquecircle.com Just make sure, when you do find those solid "critique buddies" that you do not to forget to mention them in your acknowledgments when you publish your first book! Masterpiece of Murder (book review)
*Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post. I received a complimentary book for review purposes.
Masterpiece of Murder by Evelyn Cullet was an intriguing read that held my attention with each turn of the page. Through the development of the main character, Charlotte Ross, the reader is taken on an emotional ride experiencing love, fear and betrayal. This book was fast paced yet captivating leaving the reader with a desire for more. Cullet exposed the treacheries that exist within the art world while adding humor and fun to mystery writing. Masterpiece of Murder is a great read and I highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy exotic places, romance, crime, suspense and art.

I had the opportunity to ask the author, Evelyn Cullet, a question, here is her response:
Q: Describe your journey as a writer and why you decided on this genre. A: I have always found that expressing my thoughts in writing was easier than expressing them verbally. In high school, I enjoyed writing parodies on the Shakespeare soliloquies, where I would replace the character's names with my friend's and change the events to those we were currently involved in. From there I went on to write short stories. When I finally got the chance to go to college, later in life, my English professor suggested that I submit an essay I wrote for class to Reader's Digest. I didn't, but his encouragement gave me the confidence to become the writer I'd always wanted to be. Shortly after that I began writing my first manuscript, and I haven't stopped writing since. I've always been a mystery buff. I love the genre, and was a long-time member of the Agatha Christie society where we discussed the characters and the plots of her novels and plays. Needless to say, I've read them all, along with the mysteries of Dorothy L. Sayers and Arthur Conan Doyle, so naturally my genre had to be mystery. I tried writing cozy mysteries, which is what I like to read, but somehow romance always seemed to work its way into the stories, and so I left it in. After all, who doesn't like a little romance? I try to write my novels so that the reader will feel an attachment to the characters and hopefully that will keep the readers interested enough to keep reading, even after the mystery is solved, to find out if the characters will get together in the end. Of course, I like to throw in a few plot twists too, just to keep things interesting. |
